The City of Creswell was incorporated in 1909. Today the city is a municipality and uses the
City council-city administrator form of government. Councilors serve four year terms. Council meetings
are held on the first Monday after the first Tuesday of each month at Creswell Community Center.

LAW ENFORCEMENT
Creswell’s law enforcement is provided by the City of Creswell through a law enforcement
contract with the Lane County Sheriff’s Department. Creswell is served by a one-half time
sergeant and two full-time deputies who work various shifts. These officers only cover the
city limits and other deputies cover the rural area, however they are not based in Creswell.

FIRE DEPARTMENT
Fire, rescue and emergency medical services are provided by South lane County Fire & Rescue.
The fire department is a Special district formed in July 2003 as a result of merging the
Creswell Fire District, South Lane Rural Fire District and the Cottage Grove Fire Department.
Operating from four stations, located throughout the district, (Creswell, Cottage Grove, Camas
Swale and Saginaw) dedicated and trained personnel, both career and volunteer, provide
emergency response and advanced life support emergency medical transport services 24 hours
a day. The Fire Department responds to over 2,000 emergency calls annually. FireMed,
a subscription service for ambulance transport is available to residents of the Fire District.
